This compliance tip explains what a listing compliance notice is, why you might receive one, and the steps you should take to resolve it.
What is a Compliance Notice?
If a compliance violation is found on your listing, you will receive an email from [email protected]
The notice will include:
- Listing information
- Name of the violation
- Description explaining why the notice was sent
- A link to the potentially violated rule
Important Details to Review
When reviewing your notice, be sure to:
- Read all instructions carefully
- Pay close attention to notes in blue (these are added by staff and often include specific guidance)
- Review the linked rule for full context
How to Respond
To reply to your compliance notice:
- Click Reply All in your email
- Ensure your response is sent to:
[email protected] - Include any requested documentation or corrections
Important:
Do not send your reply to the listingdatachecker email. Always use Reply All to send your response to [email protected].
Understanding the Grace Period
Each notice includes a grace period, which is the timeframe you have to:
- Correct your listing
- Provide required documentation
- Request assistance from the CVR MLS team
Acting within the grace period allows you to:
- Avoid fines
- Keep your listing compliant
- Maintain accurate and reliable MLS data
If no action is taken during the grace period, the violation will escalate to a fine. Once assessed, fines can only be waived with a valid CVR MLS fine waiver earned before receiving notice of a violation. You can take the on-demand version of the Road Rules Compliance course for an MLS rules refresher and earn a $250 fine waiver that’s good for 12 months from the time the class is taken.
