Hello everyone. In this video I want to help familiarize you with the map search option that is available to you in Matrix. You're able to use a map to search for listings. We’re going to take a few minutes to go over everything you need to know to be comfortable with this tool.
Let’s start on the Residential search tab. When searching for listings you may notice that there are 3 tabs above the search criteria: Criteria, Map, and Results. Let's click the map tab. This tab allows you to see the exact location of any listings that fit the criteria you’ve entered, and the tools available on the top banner of the map can be used to refine your search based on location.
The first icon is for drawing a circle around a single point on the map. Click and drag from the desired point to capture all the listings within a chosen radius of that point.
The second icon lets you place a rectangle on the map to capture the desired area. Simply click a starting point to make one corner of the shape, then drag and click a second time to place the opposite corner of the rectangle.
The third icon lets you get more specific and draw a polygon to capture an area. Click once to select a start point and continuously click until you close the shape to finish off.
With the fourth icon you can freehand draw around the location you would like to capture. With this tool you will have to hold click and drag your cursor around the map until you’ve closed the shape.
Click on the red dot to open a menu that gives you the option to delete the shape, exclude results that are captured in that shape, or, if there is overlap, only include results that show up in areas where shapes intersect.
You can zoom in to select a property and even click on adjacent properties.
The eraser icon clears all shapes from the map.
The sixth icon is mapping Layers. Here you can select boundaries to add to the map such as county lines or neighborhood boundaries.
Use the Jump-To Address field to enter a location and position the map based on a specific address, cross street, or county. You can also select an area the dropdown list next to this field.
After using these tools to fine tune your search on the map you can click any of the results to pull up more information about the listing. If you’d like to select multiple results from the map you can use the checking tools in the top left corner of the search window. If you’d prefer to see properties in a list view, click the results tab.
